Enterprise Resource Planning software implementation Partners

Choosing the right Enterprise Resource Planning partner

With the proliferation of companies offering to implement your Odoo ERP system out there.
Here are a few simple guidelines for clients.

Does the implementer have a good chartered accountant on the team, if so why not ask them specific accounting questions to gauge their depth of knowledge.

Does the implementer have a team of people presenting to you? If not why..How is it possible for a one man / one woman band to demonstrate an Enterprise Resource Planning system end to end and be a subject matter expert in all areas? Even if they were surely the team must be visible to you as the end client, after all its your implementer you are evaluating as well.

Do not make the mistake of listening to companies who have implemented 3, 4 or 5 different types of systems packages..it becomes a commodity and not their core skill. To have the detailed product knowledge takes time and the old adage of "jack of all trades" comes into play here.

There are lots of different skill sets required when implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning system expect no less than the following professionals on the team Project Manager, Accountant, Business Analyst, Trainer, Technical Expert, Developer and of course an Account manager to handle client relations.

Never forget implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning is one of the most complex projects to get right and many implementers do not understand the extra mile required to make sure that its done right, to budget and timescales. At the same time clients must take responsibility to control the 2 most common reasons for a time overrun, data and scope creep.

Finally make sure that the Project Manager and Principal consultants have over 10-15 years of experience with corporate companies to be able to have the prerequisite knowledge and skill to implement your system, after all in some cases its taken you that long and more to build your company.

The most important people to your project are your Project Managers, internal and the partners Project Manager, they must have the knowledge to know where the project risk points are and keep everyone performing to the timeline. If the project manager or principal from your implementer cannot demonstrate an understanding of all aspects required of your project from Finance to IT requirements and solutions required be wary.

A full end to end understanding of the implications of adopting an ERP system is a prerequisite.
